Sarah Capoccia is an American artist, specializing in chalk pastel and oil paintings. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Western Michigan University in 2008. She currently resides in Idaho with her husband and son.

Statement

My work is often dreamy and atmospheric, characterized by soft colors and textures. Growing up on the east coast, I have a rich love of the ocean; water makes its way into many of my works. Water is to me an overwhelming, enveloping force - a conduit for emotion. I believe in the artist as truth teller, and in my work I attempt to honestly distill my own feelings. I paint in both traditional oils and in chalk pastel, the latter of which is my favorite because it allows me to go fully hands on, as I build up a richness of color and light.
